Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutical
Freedom and pure interest in research. The main reasons to work with us
Freedom and pure interest in research are the most important reasons for choosing our services.
We are a university department, and what moves us are research, teaching and the third mission, namely communication and technology transfer. There are no commercial interests in our activities other than those related to these three areas of activity.
Our History
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was created in 2012 by the merger of the pre-existing Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology and Anesthesiology, which had always been reference structures for drug research and teaching at the University of Padua.
The department of Pharmacology dates back to the 1930s.
Our People
Our staff includes about 60 researchers and professors, 40 technicians, and 100 young researchers-in-training, including students from 3 doctoral schools, postdoctoral fellows, and fellows.
More than 100 undergraduates are housed in the research laboratories for experimental thesis work.
Our Research Areas
The faculty members in our Department perform research in the areas of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacognosy, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology and Drug Delivery, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Biology, Regenerative Medicine.
Our Labs
Our Department has about 50 research laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art furniture and instrumentation, 10 classrooms and 7 laboratories with modern equipment for frontal and practical teaching for more than 2,000 students.
Our Mission
Our mission is to develop innovative research aimed at obtaining bioactive products that are useful for human health, through the use of modern technologies and the combination of cultural, scientific and educational skills of our department.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a department that becomes a centre of knowledge in pharmaceuticals and health and wellness products that is a benchmark for research and services in the manufacturing world.
Our Values
Free thinking and cultural independence are the most important of our values.
Applied to our research, they become a powerful source of inspiration for new discoveries and the achievement of important breakthroughs in the pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences.
Defending them in study and teaching has become a hallmark that is also found in the motto of our University: Universa Universis Patavina Libertas.
